1970 Porsche 914-6 GT
This extremely original 1970 Porsche 914-6 was ordered new by the Portuguese Porsche importer Messrs AS Motors Sociedade, though the order was never completed. Retained by the factory, the car was subsequently converted to FIA Group 4 “GT” specification as part of the internal “Project 914/42.” Chassis 1571 was sold in June 1971 to West Coast racer Alan Johnson through Bozzani Porsche-Audi in California, and later changed hands in February 1972, moving to Oklahoma, where it remained until 2003.
After receiving an FIA Historic Technical Passport, the car was campaigned in Europe by its next owner, appearing in the 2004 and 2006 Le Mans Classic as well as the Tour Auto. Finished in yellow with white roundels and period-style sponsor decals, it features steel flared bodywork paired with a fiberglass hood, bumpers, front valance, and rear decklid.
Power comes from a 2.0-liter Type 901/26 flat-six equipped with dual Weber 46 IDA 3C carburetors and a twin-plug ignition system, mated to a five-speed Type 914/02 transaxle with a limited-slip differential. The car rides on staggered 15" Fuchs wheels and is equipped with Koni rear coilovers and 908-spec ventilated disc brakes.
The purposeful cabin houses a pair of Scheel fixed-back bucket seats trimmed in black, along with a roll bar, MOMO steering wheel, Heuer rally timers, and a 100-liter fuel tank.
